I would highly NOT recommand this mechanic! Besides the promises they make about services they don't provide. They rip you off, take your possesions and when you call them, they raise their voice. Bad people!
Had some car troubles on my travels, so decided to take it here. Met the "Mechanic" who seemed knowledgeable and friendly.After over a week, with no contact I went in to speak with him. After waiting a little under an hour for him to finish a personal phone call I was told that he had spent hours on the phone trying to source the part to no avail. It was a simple part, but given the age of my car, I was convinced that my choices were either import the part from overseas or scrap the car. This seemed extreme, so on the Saturday afternoon I tried to source the part myself. 1 phone call to a local mechanic near where I live, and by Monday morning he had the part and express couriered it to Kuranda, costing around $30 including postage.The "mechanic" lost his friendly attitude when I told him I had managed to find it, and it was on its way.By Thursday, hearing nothing from the "mechanic" I called him, and was told it had not yet arrived. This went on till the following Tuesday when I decided to go in and see him. To my luck it had "just" arrived and when he finished 2 of the projects he was working on he would "get round to mine". Wednesday came and went, so on Thursday morning I decided to call my local mechanic to seek his advice, from the conversation I learnt it was an easy fix, requiring no more than 20 mins, and that I should go in and wait till it was fixed.After waiting some time for him to finish a personal phone call, I explained to him I would wait, he directed me to wait outside saying he had no room for me to "lounge about". After about an hour or so, he realised I was serious and did the job (took him 30 mins).He then gave me the bill, charging me for parts (all sourced and paid for prior by me) and 6 hours labour. I was a little taken back by the bill, but he informed me that he had "spent far more hours on the phone trying to source the part" and if I wanted he would charge me for the actual time he spent, and the parts cost was other parts he needed to complete the job. Having no choice I paid and left.I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS MECHANIC EVEN IN AN EMERGENCY. pay to get your car towed elsewhere, it will save you a lot of time and money.
Disgusted with the service we received. An interstate relative staying with us was blatantly lied to, misled and mechanic didnt bother to turn up and eventually sent a backyarder friend to do the job who wasnt even employed by this business, a day and a half later. My relatives lost 2 days of their holiday which could have been avoided if this mechanic had shown honesty first up and said he was too busy and then we could have got another mechanic to do the job. But instead he made false promises and they were forced to sit and wait with kids anxious to get going to do stuff on their holidays
