An interesting and scenic ride down from Kuranda. The staff were all friendly and helpful.
The train starts from the cairns central station up-to The Kuranda. Its a two hour train ride. You will never get bored along the way because of the scenery!Is it worth it? I will say NO. Because the ticket price is expensive. You are paying the experience always remember that! HeheBut i suggest going up to kuranda village take the Train. Going back to the city take the Cable care. When we visit the village unfortunately the cable car is not available due to severe hot temperate, so we took the bus instead.When you reach the village it self, restaurants and souvenir items can be found everywhere! Highly recommended to all tourist!

I had a wonderful day! Id recommend upgrading your train ticket to Gold Star. The staff were so nice & helpful. Beautiful scenery & loads to see & do in Kuranda.
Considering just the railway ; you might be bit underwhelmed. Is fine for railway buffs, and the engineering feat deserves recognition, but many items seem not original. There are some good views, but trees in way much of time - although I am not suggesting felling just to please the fickle tourists. Maybe there could be a feature steam locomotive in season ? - as a positive suggestion. Sorry guys @ railway, but steam lines work v well in the UK...
