A nice touristy place to visit. You don't actually get to walk through the rain forest but the duck boat ride is a neat way to get close. Actually petted kangaroos (for free) and could pay to build a koala).We also enjoyed the cultural dance and demonstrations of the boomerang and the musical instrument (can't remember the name of it). Overall a very nice day that ended with the gondola Skyrail
I have no words to describe how wonderful was my day out there. Loved especially the army duck tour, with lots of information about the Rainforest and its conservation. The zoo is also great!
Great variety of experiences in this one place. The duck tour of the rain forest by land and water was both educational and adventurous. I also liked learning about the Aboriginal cultural and how to throw a boomerang. The wildlife reserve, while small, had a large variety of animals like koalas, kangaroos, crocodiles, birds, Alpine dingos and a cassowary. I even got to hold a baby koala and crocodile.
what a fun addition to our Cairns trip! Our navigator, Capt' Chris was not only informative but a wonderful, friendly guide! We went on the Army Duck tour and had a blast. Chris took us on land and in the water in about 30 to 45 minutes. It wound up being the perfect amount of time to sit back and learn a little about local plants and a few lizards. One thing I wish we had been told is that there is a shuttle for $6 that will get you from Cairns to the Rainforestation location. So please do talk to your hotel about that before heading out-Uber doesn't take more than 4 people and it's a bit of a ride depending where you are staying which could wind up costing $50+ one way. At any rate, at the end of our tour we went to the tasty fruits area and tried a variety of local fruits ranging from $1-$6 a piece. The ladies were kind enough to cut up the fruit for us, and we even purchased some of their sorbet which was equally as tasty!A few of our members then went on to hold Koala's for $22 and snag a picture. There is a restaurant on site with a buffet and drinks (we didn't partake) and there are other areas of the site we didn't see.This is a great option for families and a nice low key addition to your trip!
